- Criticism's role in art is to pick apart to appreciate and to understand why we do or why we don't like a work of art.
2. Read the section "Kinds of Criticism". Explain the difference between Exploratory and argumentative criticism.
- Exploratory criticism describes what is there already and what it is trying to be. Argumentative criticism tries to persuade the reader that the subject is as the critic views it.
3. Read "Describing Photographs: Defining Description". When writing or talking about a photograph what are the three things that should be included?
-What is here? What am I looking at? and What do i know with certainty about this image are questions that you should as when talking about a photograph.
4. Read "Describing Form". What are some formal design elements that can be described?
- Light color and texture are formal design elements.
5. Read "Comparing and Contrasting" Look up one off the other photographers mentioned. Post and image and describe the comparison you see in the photos to the ones in the gallery above.

-That a critique in is commonly understood as something that points out negatives, and that it should be based off an informed opinion.
2. What is the minimum length a critique requires?
- A critique requires at least 4 sentences.
3. What are the three elements that go into a constructive critique? What are a few questions that resonate with you and why?
-You remove all outside distractions, you judge the composition, and you judge the content. Removing outside distractions resonates with me because I would never have though to do it before.
4. When delivering a critique “sandwich” what are the 4 elements?
-Initial impressions, positive feedback, negative feedback, then positive feedback.
5. What are things to consider in the difference between an online critique and a face to face critique?
-You cant judge someone's initial reactions to your work online, and you can be more personal in a face to face critique then you can online.
